Vietnam’s tourism industry continues its remarkable resurgence, welcoming over 9.2 million international visitors in the first five months of 2025—an impressive 21.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
Surging Visitor Numbers & Record-Breaking Arrivals
May alone saw a record-breaking 1.53 million foreign arrivals, marking the highest May figure in a decade. With China leading the way as Vietnam’s largest source market, followed by South Korea, Taiwan, the United States, and Japan, the country is solidifying its position as a top global travel destination.
Vietnam’s air travel sector dominates, accounting for 85.2% of international arrivals, while road and maritime tourism present untapped potential. The country’s favorable visa policies and targeted promotional campaigns have fueled growth, particularly among European travelers, with Russia emerging as the leading European source market.
Domestic tourism is also thriving, with 61.5 million local travelers recorded from January to May, contributing to an estimated VNĐ38.4 trillion (US$1.47 billion) in tourism revenue—a 24.7% year-on-year increase.
Vietnam’s growing appeal is reflected in its ranking among the top five most-searched Asian destinations for summer 2025 on Agoda. As the country continues to enhance its tourism infrastructure and experiences, it remains a must-visit destination for global travelers.
