Kyndryl, the world’s largest provider of mission-critical IT infrastructure services, has officially launched its ASEAN AI Innovation Lab in Singapore, reinforcing its commitment to advancing responsible AI adoption and workforce transformation across Southeast Asia.

Strategically located in one of Asia’s most digitally connected hubs, the new lab will serve as a regional center of excellence, employing approximately 50 local AI professionals—including data scientists, engineers, and developers—to co-create enterprise-grade AI solutions with advanced security features. The initiative aims to address the region’s growing workforce readiness gap, as highlighted in Kyndryl’s recent People Readiness Report, which found that while 95% of businesses have invested in AI, 71% of leaders believe their teams are not yet equipped to fully leverage the technology.

“Our ASEAN AI Innovation Lab underscores Kyndryl’s long-term commitment to the region,” said Andrew Lim, Managing Director of Kyndryl ASEAN and Korea. “By combining our deep expertise in designing and delivering complex systems with the power of responsible AI, we’re enabling businesses to move faster and smarter—while ensuring trust and transparency remain at the core.”

The lab will offer advisory services through Kyndryl Consult and immersive co-creation experiences via Kyndryl Vital, helping organizations tackle real-world challenges using design-led thinking. It will also showcase live use cases and demonstrations to help enterprises understand and implement responsible AI at scale.

In collaboration with Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) and Google Cloud, the lab will support the AI Cloud Takeoff program under DISG’s Enterprise Compute Initiative. Google Cloud will provide access to cutting-edge tools such as Vertex AI, BigQuery, and the Agent Development Kit to accelerate AI solution development and business growth.

“Enterprises across Southeast Asia are moving quickly to harness generative and agentic AI,” said Mark Micallef, Managing Director, Southeast Asia, Google Cloud. “Our partnership with Kyndryl brings together deep consultancy expertise and interoperable data-to-AI capabilities to unlock measurable ROI from secure, enterprise-grade AI deployments.”

With Southeast Asia’s AI opportunity projected to reach USD 835 billion by 2030, Kyndryl’s investment in Singapore positions the company at the forefront of regional digital transformation, while addressing the urgent need for workforce upskilling and inclusive innovation.
