Cambodia’s trade volume with ASEAN member states soared to US$8.45 billion in the first half of 2025, marking a 6% year-on-year increase, according to the Ministry of Commerce. The robust performance underscores Cambodia’s deepening integration within the regional bloc and its strategic push to diversify trade partnerships.

Exports to ASEAN countries reached US$3.12 billion, a 16% rise compared to the same period last year, while imports stood at US$5.33 billion, up 0.91%. ASEAN trade now accounts for 27.2% of Cambodia’s total trade volume, reflecting the bloc’s growing significance in Cambodia’s economic landscape.

Key Export Products and Markets

Cambodia’s top exports to ASEAN include:

  • Garments, textiles, and footwear
  • Travel goods and furniture
  • Agricultural products such as rice, cassava, rubber, and cashew nuts
  • Solar panels, bicycles, and automotive components

Leading ASEAN trade partners:

  • Vietnam: US$4.3 billion
  • Thailand: US$2.1 billion
  • Singapore: US$700 million
  • Indonesia: US$534 million
  • Malaysia: US$506 million

Strategic Outlook

The Ministry emphasized that Cambodia’s export growth is fueled by rising demand for both investment-driven and non-garment products, as well as agricultural goods. The country’s proactive trade policies and infrastructure development are expected to further strengthen its position within ASEAN.

This upward trajectory aligns with Cambodia’s broader economic strategy to reduce reliance on traditional markets and leverage regional frameworks such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
