Nextgreen Global Berhad is officially recognised by ASEAN Records for achieving a landmark milestone in sustainable industrial innovation: “First Green Technology Park Adopting Circular Economy Model with Patented Technology to Convert Oil Palm Biomass into EFB Pulp and Paper.”

This recognition underscores Nextgreen’s leadership in advancing circular economy practices, green manufacturing and ESG-driven industrial development across ASEAN.

Pioneering a Zero-Waste Industrial Ecosystem

At the heart of this achievement is Nextgreen’s flagship Green Technology Park (GTP) in Pekan, Pahang — a fully integrated industrial ecosystem built on zero-waste principles.

Through its patented process, the facility converts oil palm waste — specifically empty fruit bunches (EFB) — into eco-labelled pulp and paper, reducing environmental impact while creating high-value products.

Beyond pulp and paper production, the GTP also generates:

  • Organic fertilisers and agro-based products
  • Renewable energy from biomass
  • Additional value-added outputs from residual materials

This closed-loop system ensures that every by-product is repurposed, setting a new benchmark for sustainable industrial design in the region.

A Breakthrough in Circular Economy Innovation

Nextgreen’s innovation addresses one of ASEAN’s largest environmental challenges — the management of oil palm biomass waste — by transforming it into commercially viable and environmentally sustainable resources.

The patented technology:

  • Reduces dependence on traditional wood-based pulp
  • Supports national ESG and sustainability goals
  • Enhances resource efficiency and waste reduction
  • Strengthens local supply chains and industrial resilience

This model demonstrates how sustainability and profitability can coexist, offering a scalable blueprint for other industries across ASEAN.

Official Recognition Ceremony

The ASEAN Records recognition was formally presented to Dato’ Lim Thiam Huat, Managing Director of Nextgreen Global Berhad, during a ceremony held at the KL Convention Center
