GoRental, a Malaysia-based portable power solutions specialist, has been officially recognised by ASEAN Records for powering a large-scale outdoor exhibition entirely through portable Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), demonstrating a cleaner and quieter alternative to conventional diesel-powered temporary energy.

82 Battery Systems Power 55 Outdoor Booths
The record was achieved during Outdoor Expo Malaysia 2026, held from 7 to 9 August at Titiwangsa Stadium, Kuala Lumpur.
Across the three-day event, GoRental deployed 82 portable BESS units across 55 open-air exhibition booths, delivering a combined 992.16 kWh of electricity over 36 operating hours.
The systems supported a diverse programme of activities including outdoor adventure showcases, climbing demonstrations, survival workshops, product launches, educational sessions, family attractions and live stage activities.
By replacing conventional generator-dependent temporary power, the deployment showed that portable battery technology can support the varied electricity requirements of a major outdoor exhibition while maintaining a more comfortable environment for exhibitors, visitors and event workers.
Reducing Reliance on Diesel Generators
Temporary events traditionally depend heavily on diesel generators because they can be deployed quickly in locations without permanent electrical infrastructure.
However, generator use also produces exhaust emissions, noise and ongoing fuel requirements.
GoRental’s battery-powered approach demonstrated an alternative model. Based on a conventional diesel-generator baseline, the Outdoor Expo Malaysia deployment avoided approximately 803 kg of CO₂e emissions while reducing the exhaust and noise normally associated with temporary generator systems.
Beyond reducing emissions, battery systems can also support environments where quieter operation is valuable, particularly during public exhibitions, educational activities, product demonstrations and live events.
The project provides a practical example of how energy storage technology can contribute to more sustainable event operations without compromising the electricity requirements of exhibitors and organisers.
Extending Battery Technology Beyond Events
The achievement also highlights the wider potential of portable battery energy storage.
GoRental sees applications extending beyond exhibitions into campsites, construction environments, commercial operations and other temporary or high-demand power situations.

ASEAN Records Recognition Presented at Outdoor Expo Malaysia
The ASEAN Records certificate was officially presented on 9 August 2026 at Titiwangsa Stadium, during the closing programme of Outdoor Expo Malaysia 2026.
The recognition was received by Colin Peh, Managing Director & Founder of GoRental, and witnessed by YB Hannah Yeoh, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.
Reflecting on the achievement, Witness Lee, Business Development Manager of GoRental, said the recognition demonstrated that portable battery storage can reliably support large outdoor events while creating a cleaner and quieter environment.
