In a major boost to ASEAN tourism and economic integration, AirAsia has announced an increase in its domestic and international flight frequencies, bringing the total to 3,281 weekly flights across 10 ASEAN countries. This expansion is expected to enhance connectivity and drive economic growth throughout the region. The announcement was made during the 57th ASEAN Day celebration at AirAsia RedQ, held in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia (MOFA).

As part of this expansion, AirAsia will resume its Kuala Lumpur to Da Lat, Vietnam route with four weekly flights starting 1 November 2024. Da Lat, known for its cool climate and stunning landscapes, will be more accessible, offering travelers affordable and frequent flight options.

This increase in flight operations is aligned with AirAsia’s broader strategy to strengthen its network within ASEAN, thereby providing travelers with greater flexibility and more choices. The airline’s move is expected to boost tourism, increase spending in local economies, and create jobs in the tourism sector.

AirAsia MOVE, in collaboration with the ASEAN Tourism Association (ASEANTA), has also introduced the ASEAN Explorer Pass, a travel subscription product that offers access to AirAsia’s extensive flight network within ASEAN, hotel discounts, and on-ground connectivity through AirAsia Ride.

Bo Lingam, CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, emphasized the airline’s commitment to ASEAN’s economic bloc, stating, “Our expanding operational footprint, with major hubs in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Cambodia, reflects our belief in ASEAN’s potential as a unified market. We look forward to welcoming 75 million guests this year, with half expected to travel within the ASEAN region.”

In celebration of ASEAN Day, AirAsia is offering promotional fares starting from RM49 for one-way tickets to various destinations across the region. These special fares are available for booking on the AirAsia MOVE app and airasia.com until 11 August 2024, for travel between 1 October 2024 and 31 March 2025.
