Collaborations in Trade, Investments, and Key Sectors to Unlock New Market Opportunities
Malaysia and Uzbekistan are strengthening economic relations through a series of high-level business discussions aimed at fostering trade, investments, and partnerships across various industries.
A significant milestone was marked by a meeting between the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce, led by Deputy Chairman Rasulov Dilshod, and the Malaysia-Uzbekistan Business Alliance, represented by Secretary-General Dato’ Sohaimi Shahadan. The meeting, attended by 35 entrepreneurs and the Malaysian Ambassador to Uzbekistan, explored collaboration opportunities in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, IT services, agriculture, oil and gas, and tourism. Emphasizing Uzbekistan’s strategic location in Central Asia and Malaysia’s trade expertise, both parties laid foundations for joint ventures and market expansion.
Furthering these efforts, a delegation led by Dato’ Sri Dr. King Lim Chin Fui, Chairman of the Uzbekistan-Malaysia Business Council, visited Uzbekistan from 23rd to 27th September 2024. The Council, formed to implement agreements from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s May visit, focuses on boosting trade, investment, and tourism cooperation. During the visit, a round table titled “Uzbekistan – Malaysia” was held, attended by over 50 business leaders from industries including construction, energy, healthcare, and confectionery production.
Highlighting future-forward strategies, the creation of an investment electronic platform to connect Malaysia with Central Asian countries was proposed and approved, aiming to streamline investment opportunities. Both nations agreed to take further joint actions to enhance mutually beneficial economic relations, paving the way for an inclusive business environment and market expansion within ASEAN and beyond.
