Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is actively being developed as a central logistics hub for air cargo in ASEAN, aiming to attract more air cargo liners. Transport Minister Anthony Loke emphasized that KLIA’s extensive network and growing cargo facilities position it as a leading air cargo gateway in the region, serving numerous secondary cities across ASEAN.

Expanding Infrastructure and Operations
KLIA has seen significant cargo warehousing development and an increase in air cargo liner requests for investment space. The strategic partnership between MMAG Aviation Consortium (MAC) and Unilode Aviation Solutions further enhances KLIA’s operational capabilities, focusing on improved cargo management and services. The collaboration will establish a Unit Load Device (ULD) management center at MAC’s Xpress Cargo Terminal, enhancing Malaysia’s logistics efficiency.

Building on ASEAN Connectivity
Leveraging its connectivity, especially through low-cost carriers serving secondary ASEAN cities, KLIA is well-positioned to expand cargo traffic and frequency. This initiative supports Malaysia’s broader efforts to strengthen its logistics and aviation sectors, fostering growth and regional trade connectivity.
