The 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings, held from May 22 to May 27 in Kuala Lumpur, concluded successfully without any security incidents, reaffirming Malaysia’s commitment to ensuring a safe and well-coordinated international event.

Bukit Aman’s Internal Security and Public Order Department, in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry and other relevant agencies, executed a seamless security strategy that safeguarded all heads of state, delegations, and staff throughout the summit. Deputy Comm MV Sri Kumar emphasized that the movement of dignitaries to and from the conference venue proceeded as planned, with security arrangements meticulously implemented.

To facilitate the smooth flow of the summit, phased road closures were strategically enforced around hotels housing the delegations and the conference venue. These measures, which began on May 23, covered six highways and 25 main roads across the Klang Valley, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of participants. The cooperation of the public played a crucial role in the success of these arrangements.

Nearly 6,200 officers and personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) were deployed to provide comprehensive security coverage, further reinforcing Malaysia’s capability to host high-profile international events.

The 46th ASEAN Summit, held under Malaysia’s 2025 chairmanship, carried the theme “Inclusion and Sustainability”, reflecting the region’s commitment to fostering unity and long-term development.
