KUALA LUMPUR, 2 July 2025 — Malaysia proudly hosted the 4th Global Culinary Challenge Malaysia, a historic event that has earned recognition from ASEAN Records for the highest number of participating countries in a global culinary competition ever held in Malaysia—689 chefs representing 31 nations took part in the event, officially endorsed by the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (Worldchefs).

Endorsed by Worldchefs and championed by the Global Culinary Competition Malaysia Association (GCCM), this year’s challenge elevated Malaysia’s stature in global gastronomy. The competition aimed to promote culinary diplomacy, encourage innovation, and celebrate cultural diversity—all centered around Malaysia’s vibrant food heritage.

Witnessed by YB Datuk Chan Foong Hin, the Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities, the record recognition emphasized the strong ties between Malaysia’s plantation sector and the food industry, reinforcing the nation’s ambition to feature its commodity products in menus worldwide.

Dato’ Sri Dr. King Lim, GCCM’s Event Chairman (represented by Mr Joshua Ng), highlighted the significance: “GCCM is a strategic platform that advances ASEAN cultural diplomacy, promoting unity through diversity by celebrating our rich food heritage and encouraging cultural exchange.”

The event, held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) from 1–3 July, attracted top culinary talent from around the globe and was staged in tandem with Food & Drinks Malaysia by SIAL, a major food exhibition fostering innovation, networking, and market access.

With this achievement, Malaysia not only celebrates a delicious milestone but also asserts itself as a premier destination for global chef competitions and gastronomic excellence. GCCM continues to champion culinary creativity, professional development, and regional unity through its signature events.
