ASEAN and the Republic of Korea (ROK) have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), strengthening cooperation across political, security, economic and socio-cultural sectors while promoting peace, stability and sustainable growth throughout the region.
The commitment was reinforced during the ASEAN–ROK Dialogue held in Seoul, where senior officials reviewed progress under the ASEAN–ROK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and explored new avenues for collaboration amid an increasingly complex regional and global environment.
Expanding Cooperation Across Key Strategic Areas
During the dialogue, ASEAN and South Korea assessed the implementation of existing cooperation initiatives while identifying opportunities to broaden collaboration in areas critical to the region’s long-term resilience and prosperity.
Key areas of cooperation discussed included:

- Digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI)

South Korea also introduced initiatives under the administration of President Lee Jae Myung, including plans to share AI innovation capabilities with ASEAN and deepen collaboration in cultural and creative industries by building on the global popularity of the Korean Wave.

The dialogue reflects the continued evolution of ASEAN–ROK relations following the elevation of ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, providing a stronger framework for addressing shared regional priorities.
Both sides reiterated the importance of maintaining open communication and close coordination in responding to emerging regional and international challenges while supporting an inclusive, rules-based regional architecture.
